Kinnara mural in Oakland Chinatown

Mural painted with spray paint, acrylic house paint, rollers, and brushes on the corner of Alice and 7th St in Oakland, Ca.

The mural depicts a Kinnara, a mythical human-bird hybrid from Buddhist/Hindu cultures. The praying figure is meant as a symbol of hope and protection in the wake of recent violence against AAPI people.

Space for this mural was facilitated by 333Arts.
